Before we can understand these problems, we need to understand the following terms:

Pigtail: used in the terminal box to connect the optical fiber in the optical cable, and connect the pigtail and jumper through the terminal box coupler (adapter).

Jumper: both ends of the jumper are movable connectors, which are used to connect the tail fiber and equipment.

Optical cable terminal box: refers to the box for terminal protection of optical cable and tail fiber fusion in optical cable laying.

Optical fiber coupler: the flexible connection applicable to two optical fibers or pigtails is commonly known as flange.

Optical fiber terminal box: It is the terminal of an optical cable. One end of the optical cable is the optical cable, and the other end is the tail fiber. It is equivalent to the equipment that splits an optical cable into a single optical fiber.

Optical fiber splice box: It is used for splicing two optical cables into a long optical cable. The optical fiber terminal box and the optical fiber fusion box cannot be interchanged. The optical fiber and the optical transceiver are connected through the optical fiber terminal box, that is, the optical transceiver can only be inserted with pigtails.

Coupler: only two pigtails can be connected and there are interfaces such as SC/PC FC/PC, while the optical cable and pigtail are welded by fusion splicer, which is dead.

Terminal box VS fusion box: the former is the fusion of optical cable and pigtail, and the latter is the fusion between optical cables.

Junction box VS terminal box: the junction box is fully sealed and can be waterproof, but it cannot fix the pigtail; The terminal box is not waterproof, and the internal structure can fix the optical cable on one side and the tail fiber on the other.

Pigtail VS jumper: only one end of pigtail is a movable joint; Both ends of the jumper fiber are flexible connectors. There are many kinds of interfaces. Different interfaces require different couplers. The jumper fiber can be used as tail fiber by dividing it into two parts.

Pigtail function: mainly used to connect the connectors at both ends of the optical fiber. One end of the pigtail is fused with the optical fiber connector, and the other end is connected with the optical fiber transceiver or optical fiber module through a special connector, forming an optical data transmission path. Generally, we can't buy pure pigtail, but the jumper as shown in the figure. Once cut in the middle, it becomes pigtail.

ST, SC and FC optical fiber connectors are the standards developed by different enterprises in the early stage. They have the same use effect, and each has its advantages and disadvantages. Let's make a detailed introduction to them.

ST and SC connector connectors are commonly used in general networks.

The ST head is fixed by a bayonet in the half circle of rotation after insertion, which is easy to break;

The C connector is directly plugged in and out, which is very convenient to use, but the disadvantage is that it is easy to fall out;

FC connectors are generally used in telecommunication networks. A nut is screwed to the adapter. The advantages are reliable and dust-proof. The disadvantages are that the installation time is slightly longer.

MTRJ optical fiber jumper consists of two high-precision plastic shaped connectors and optical cables. The external part of the connector is a precision plastic part, including a push-pull plug-in clamping mechanism. It is applicable to indoor applications in telecommunication and data network systems.
